Today is Mother’s Day. LinkedIn will be full of posts celebrating mothers — warm, well-meaning, and largely forgotten by tomorrow.
I want to write something different. something which is practical and genuine.
At SriJeevanam , we build everything, every product, every decision, every material choice around a simple question: does this respect the life it touches? And when I sit with that question on a day like today, three mothers come to mind. Three that every founder building anything of meaning should know.
The first mother – Prakriti, The one we all tend to Ignore.
In Sanskrit, the word for Nature is Prakriti, Nature is existed before us and will remain after and has been nurturing us. Our ancestors did never named her as “resources”. They always referred her as Mother. They took from her only what was necessary. They asked permission. They returned what they could. Somewhere between then and now, we stopped asking. Every business that extracts without returning, that grows without considering what it leaves behind, is borrowing from a mother it has stopped acknowledging. At SriJeevanam , we make products from what Prakriti has already freely offered agriwaste, natural fibre, the surplus of harvests. Not from what we take. From what she gives. That distinction is the foundation of our entire brand. And it began with remembering who she is.
The Second mother – our women Artisans from rural UP
She wakes before the village does. She makes breakfast, packs a child’s school bag, tends to complete household chores and then left for her factory work. In night in whatever hours remain, she picks up a crochet hook or a jute cord and makes something with her hands. She is a single mother. A widow. A woman who has spent her life being told that what she makes at home has no value beyond the home.
She is the maker behind every Jute piece. And today, on Mother’s Day, I want to acknowledge that she is the reason SriJeevanam’s jute vertical exists. Not as a supply chain. Not as a CSR initiative but as a living proof that craft has always been valuable.
When you buy a handmade piece from us, you are not buying a product. You are participating in a mother’s growing confidence. Her first independent income. Her realization, entirely her own that what she makes with her hands is worth something in this world.
The third mother – Our conscious buyer Moms who is mindful in deciding what to leave behind.
She reads the label. She asks where it was made. She thinks before she buys. she is mindful not just to her wallet or the gift which she has bought but To the planet, To the person who made it. She is aware and understands that her buying decisions today, her kids will inherit tomorrow. The leather or PU wallet she doesn’t buy is not small decision. Multiplied by millions of mothers making those decisions is the difference and driving force between the world we have and the world we leave. At SriJeevanam , we build for her. Because she is not a niche for us. She is the future of every conscious brand that deserves to exist.
Today on Mother’s day, lets reflect which of these three mothers our business most often forget?
Happy Mother’s Day!!
Wishing you a Joyful, unhurried Sunday!
